The Mysteries of Mary Tarot Deck, 78 Sacred Altars published as a deck of cards; a life of the SacredOrdinary. Each card is an individual shrine dedicated to an archetype, an initiation, a Mystery in the Great Mystery and a vignette of one of the stories woven into this tapestry of Mary. When you read them together, one after the other, laid out in a sacred dance of meaning and insight, they become a garland of roses, a rosary of cards, creating a sacred Rose Garden.

About Me

Hettienne Grobler: I Live in Cape Town, South Africa with my family close to me. I see all aspects of life and the many stories that we tell, as a metaphor for life : the fertile soil where the smallest seed of Love is planted and where it grows into a beautiful, fruitful tree that gives food and shade to others. All loving acts in living one's life, are sacred offerings on the altar to the Divine.

My journey started as a spiritual healer, teacher and intuitive and art found me. Today I call all the various aspects of my life's work Sacred Altars. I have always had a fascination with dolls, myths and metaphor. This passion comes together through the ancient sacred tradition of creating Sacred Altars. Sixteen years ago I gave up my practice as a spiritual and natural healer to follow the call of my heart to explore painting and visiting places with great stories. I joined the blogging world to share my pilgrimages with others and soon I was fascinated by the world of creativity. During one of my trips to France I bought someone's entire doll collection at a flea market and my doll dioramas were born! These soon developed into shrines and now the Mysteries of Mary Tarot Deck and book.
I wanted to create keepsakes for myself and others of my visits and experiences at the many ancient sites that I visit and Sacred Altars were born. I try to express my own modern-day convent lifestyle and vision that every loving act of living is a sacred altar to the Divine.
As a visionary artist, I attempt to show how the sensible, material realms and the imaginal realms work together to show forth the glory of the sacred hidden in the ordinariness of every day living.
I create from the eye of the heart, rather than the eye of the mind and hope to illuminate and show the underlying image and Divine Presence in the vignette of our personal stories.
The child within myself is still fascinated with miniatures and their reflection of the vastness and eternity of life and living. As an artist I regard myself as an artisan and
midwife of the Divine becoming, moving between two worlds and hoping to reveal that the inner life is a sacred life and the outer ordinary life is filled with messages and confirmations of the Great Story of Divine Love within each and every human being. I focus on images and stories of The Western Christian traditions and Mysteries and try to re-tell them from the mystical perspective of wholeness and to share their greatest secrets which have become lost through time.

'Art to me is a Grace, a healing and transformation. It brings transformation to the artist and to all those who behold the expression through the artwork'.

My journey took me through many twists and turns and similar to the Handless Maiden in the Mysteries of Mary Tarot Deck I had to search high and low in the forest to find my true hands! I worked as a full time spiritual healer for seven years and taught A Course in Miracles during this time. I created the Freedom through Love three year spiritual wisdom course in the '90's; founded the Shekinah Healing Foundation; formed the Path of Love Wisdom and Mastery School; organised the first international Goddess Conference in 2008 on the beautiful farm Artemis in Franschhoek; was initiated as a Shaktypat Guru into the Siddha Yoga lineage in 2008 as Sri Jothimayi Ma and founded the Temple of Mary at Sancta Maria, Durbanville in 2012 and am the Vision keeper Hettienne Bhakty Ma Maria at the Temple where East meets West. Two separate documentaries on my work with myth, sacred drama and circles of women and men, have been aired on local South African television channels on the programme Free Spirit.

Since the completion of the tarot deck and book, I am guiding fellow pilgrims on the spiritual journey to the realization of inner wholeness. I work through intuitive readings, energetic work and shaktypat. My tools are alchemy, archetypes, art and whatever else presents itself in the moment.
